The UK's Industrial Strategy backs high-value growth sectors, but as the government notes in its Invest 2035 report, these can't be accurately mapped using outdated SIC codes. So we built a better way.
Working with The Productivity Institute, government, and industry, we've mapped eight core sectors using our proprietary Real-Time Industrial Classifications (RTICs) and Real-Time SIC Codes (RSICs). These are now live on the platform and included in your license.
Interact with the data. Explore the 8 sectors. Build your own analysis.

April 2025Description
This is the UK's advanced manufacturing sector. It includes activities such as advanced materials, robotics, semiconductors, photonics and space manufacturing.
Methodology
Defined using multiple RTICs including Advanced Materials and Semiconductors, developed in partnership with DSIT and Innovate UK. RSICs were reviewed but cannot provide the necessary detail due to limitations in the SIC structure. RTICs offer a more accurate, real-time view of this complex, high-value sector.
More information can be found in our Industrial Strategy Mapping Guide.

April 2025Description
This is the UK's digital and technology sector. It includes AI, quantum, cloud, software, data infrastructure, FemTech, and the space economy.
Methodology
Defined entirely using RTICs. SIC codes are unable to capture emerging digital subsectors. Sector definitions were developed in partnership with DSIT and reflect a consensus across government.

You'll notice something new in this data: Real-Time SIC Codes (RSICs). These are our machine learning-based SIC codes that classify companies based on what they actually do—not what they say they do.
Normally, RSICs are part of a paid upgrade. But for this project, we're making them available to all users, no matter your license level.
